What is Lymphatic Drainage?
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle therapy that supports the natural function of your lymphatic system. Unlike classic massage, it is not strong or deep — instead, it uses light, rhythmic movements that gently stretch the skin in a specific direction to encourage the flow of lymph fluid.
Why is the lymphatic system important?

The lymphatic system is a vital part of your immune system. It helps your body:
-
Remove toxins and waste products
-
Reduce swelling and fluid retention
-
Support immune defenses
-
Maintain healthy circulation and tissue balance
When the lymphatic system slows down, fluid can build up in the tissues, causing heaviness, swelling, or discomfort. Supporting lymph flow through this technique helps restore balance and improve wellbeing.

In which cases it can be helpful:

Lymphatic drainage can be used for:
-
Lymphedema (chronic swelling caused by lymphatic dysfunction)
-
Post-surgery recovery (to reduce swelling and scar tissue, support healing)
-
General health and prevention (to support circulation, detox, and relaxation)
-
Aesthetic benefits (to firm the skin, reduce cellulite, and improve skin appearance)
-
Water retention and swelling of the limbs (feeling of heaviness, puffiness, or fluid build-up)
-
Chronic venous insufficiency (when recommended and allowed by your doctor)

What to expect during a session

Lymphatic drainage is a very light and calming treatment — most clients find it deeply relaxing.
Before the massage begins, the lymph nodes (for example in the neck, armpits, or groin) are gently activated to prepare the pathways for fluid to flow. Depending on the area being treated, these regions may be included briefly in the session. This step is essential, gentle, and completely painless.

The massage itself feels like a soft stretching of the skin in slow, rhythmic movements. Many clients even fall asleep during the treatment. Afterward, you may feel lighter, more relaxed, and notice a reduction in swelling or puffiness.
